Highlighting Our New Fall 2021 AP and CCP Courses

Giving Students the Opportunity to Build College-Level Skills

“Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.”

– Proverbs 16:20

challenging and biblically-based

academic experience

Medina Christian Academy is committed to providing an academic experience for our high school students that is both challenging and biblically-based. We understand the value in educational opportunities that push our students to build college-level skills and engage in critical thinking, and we believe they are an important part of any private Christian school curriculum.

Since the fall of 2019, we have been adding more Advanced Placement (AP) and College Credit Plus (CCP) courses for our students. AP courses are designed for highly motivated students interested in an accelerated pace of learning and more challenging areas of study. Each AP course, with the exception of AP Research, leads to an end-of-course examination with the AP College Board for the opportunity to earn college credit. CCP courses are taught in partnership with Malone University—a private Christian liberal arts college—for college credit. As students are challenged and engaged in thoughtful study, their faith remains a central part of the classroom. All courses are taught from a Christian perspective.

The following are the latest additions to our AP and CCP courses for

students in grades 9-12

  • AP Literature and Composition: Similar to an introductory college literature course, this class teaches students how to read deliberately and thoroughly, analyze the meaning of texts, and consider the social and historical values that a work of literature reflects and embodies.
  • AP Spanish: This class provides students with the opportunity to more easily comprehend written and spoken Spanish, express their own ideas when writing and speaking, and improve their grammatical accuracy and communicative fluency.
  • AP Statistics: This class, which should be taken in addition to AP Calculus, teaches students how to collect, analyze, and draw conclusions from data. Most college majors in science, engineering, mathematics, social and health sciences, and business will require statistics.
  • AP Capstone Research: This course fully immerses students in scholarly research as they work toward the completion of an extensive research paper with an oral defense presentation. Students are challenged in six key areas: critical thinking and reasoning, critical reading, inquiry and research, argumentation, public speaking, and collaboration.
  • College Credit Plus Statistics: Offered in partnership with Malone University, this course focuses on problem-solving and statistical literacy at the college level. Students will receive the skills needed to analyze and interpret data and meaningfully interpret statistical results reported in research articles and in popular media.
