Growing in Faith Through Sports

How Our Faith Mission Reaches the Court, Track, and Field

our faith is at the

heart of everything we do

At Medina Christian Academy, as a private Christian school, our faith is at the heart of everything we do. Our teachers live our school’s statement of faith every single day, bringing the word of God into the classroom and serving as disciples for our students. This faith mission extends beyond the walls of the classroom as our students take the court, track, and field to participate in athletics.

Our athletics program builds on our faith and our belief that with God’s grace, we can achieve our goals. MCA student-athletes are coached through the mind, body, and soul. And while we encourage healthy competition, we prioritize the opportunity to use sports to teach our students valuable life lessons. Our coaches help students build character and discipline as they grow their skills in their chosen sport. We take enormous pride in our student-athletes and their commitment, above all, to being good teammates, kind and respected opponents, and hard workers.

When your student becomes an MCA Knight, he or she will benefit from many

valuable aspects of our athletics program

  • Practicing discipline: So many times in our lives, our faith is tested. Being a successful athlete requires discipline—practice, day after day, even when it isn’t easy. In the same way, building a strong relationship with Christ requires discipline and practice.
  • Learning the value of hard work: Our students soon learn that on the basketball court or at the starting line on the track, there is no replacement for hard work. Putting in the time, whether you are with your team or practicing on your own at home, is necessary and rewarding. Through hard work, we get closer to achieving our goals.
  • Understanding what integrity means: Athletic competition teaches our students what true integrity means and requires. Our student-athletes learn how to treat one another, their coaches, and their competitors with respect and integrity, upholding their Christian morals and being positive representatives of MCA in all situations.
  • Learning how to be a good steward of talent: Our students grow in understanding that their athletic talents were given to them by God to serve a unique purpose for His glory. They are guided to nurture their talent, invest in bettering their athletic abilities through hard work, and use their talents to help others.

“I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

– Philippians 4:13

athletics is more than an

extracurricular activity

At Medina Christian Academy, athletics is more than an extracurricular activity—participating in a sport at MCA helps students shape their whole sense of self and character. The experiences they have in a Knights sports uniform will serve them well today and prepare them for the future.

If you are interested in pursuing a private Christian education for your child with opportunities to participate in a variety of sports, please reach out to our Admissions team. In the meantime, we invite you to learn more about MCA Athletics, our coaches, and the sports offered in the fall and spring seasons.
