MCA: a school set apart
Rejoicing in God's purpose and power

We’re back at it … and we’re loving every minute!

On September 2, 340 students walked through the doors of Medina Christian Academy, and 25 classrooms came alive. The joy on the students’ faces as they interact in the halls has been an absolute blessing to witness.

We feel honored to be part of their lives and to have the privilege of partnering with families to grow these children as Christ desires.

We thank the Lord for our incredible staff. What an amazing team — one that has been assembled by God Himself.

MCA students will be loved, developed, stretched, and known this year. They will thrive and grow spiritually, academically, and relationally with the guidance of Christ.

Much gratitude goes to each and every one of you, our Medina Christian Academy community. Thank you for allowing us to partner with you to raise up your child. Your prayers have been felt in our hearts and in the halls. We rejoice in God’s always-prevailing purpose, His beautiful provision in the midst of a pandemic, and His powerful, life-changing love.

He has proved again that He is able to do more than all we ask or imagine.

Would you pause for a moment to praise Him? Just stop reading, close your eyes, and pray, even now. We have so much to thank Him for!

  • We are grateful for high school parking passes and sweet preschoolers.
  • We are grateful for the joy of class bells ringing … and that all our students can be together to learn and worship again!
  • We are thankful for the sound of kids on slides at recess — teenage footsteps in the halls — and the hush of kids praying in their perfect child-like faith.

Please continue to pray for Medina Christian Academy as we look to our Creator and Provider in the days to come.

Thank you for helping make MCA the excellent school that it is!

An investment in eternity

Why is Medina Christian Academy so special?

What makes our students and staff unique?

How do we continue offering excellence in education in a Christ-centered atmosphere? Through friends and generous supporters of our school, initiatives, and outreaches!

Tuition alone does not cover MCA’s expenses for distinction in teaching and facilities. We underwrite an average of more than $2,000 for every student we serve. Thus, we depend on the generosity of partners who have a passion for our mission of providing a superior education combined with the context of a biblical worldview.

Larry Carlson, an MCA supporter, sums it up well:

“MCA has smaller class sizes than in public schools, with more personal involvement from the teachers and staff. The curriculum showcases God’s truth regarding history, science, and health. Public schools have become increasingly secular in the last few years, even hostile to God’s standards. We believe that our donations to MCA are an investment in the academic and spiritual future of students.”

Thank you for being part of the MCA family. Your impact reaches beyond today and tomorrow … it echoes into eternity!

One campus God's glory

As we look to the months ahead and continue working to make our campus everything it can and should be to the glory of God, we’re excited because these projects are about more than “just a building” …

We know our campus with its beautiful landscape will make an impact in the hearts, minds, and lives of families in Medina and beyond!

Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll see happen over the coming months and years:

  • Phase 1 has been underway since January 2020 — renovating the existing facilities to bring all middle school and high school classes (approximately 110 students) to the new campus for the 2020-2021 school year.

Next steps include the establishment of a transportation system, and road expansion, to move students efficiently between the campuses, as well as the construction of a new onsite Gymnasium — bringing sports right to the campus and giving new meaning to having a “homefield advantage” in team-building competition — in addition to paying off remaining renovation expenses.
  • Phase 2 will help us achieve the goal of all students on one campus. This expansion involves constructing facilities and classrooms to house the elementary school programs as well (which, by then, we expect will bring an additional 226 or more students to the Rustic Hills property).

As always, we thank you for being on this thrilling journey with us. MCA students could not live in faith and lead the future as effectively without you!

Feel free to call Joe Timco at 330.725.3227 or email him at jtimco@mcaschool.net to learn more about our campus expansion. Or, simply click here for more details about how to get personally involved!

Class Highlight: AP Capstone

MCA has a history of providing our students excellence in education and preparing them for a wide-open future.

AP Capstone is a prestigious diploma program offered through the College Board. It is based on two, yearlong courses, AP Seminar and AP Research. Rather than teaching subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, debate, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting. Students have the opportunity to learn these important skills and then apply them in subject areas that they are passionate about, giving them a head start in potential college majors and career areas. AP Seminar students focus on societal problems and research-based solutions, and AP Research students conduct their own, unique research studies using qualitative or quantitative methods, complete with a professional presentation and research defense. If students successfully pass both AP Seminar and AP Research, they receive college credit and a Capstone certificate, and if they also pass four other AP courses, they receive the prestigious Capstone Diploma. Many universities, including those in the Ivy League, endorse the Capstone program and encourage applicants to participate. Overwhelming research has indicated that this program provides students with a skill set that prepares them for college-level study and research.

Rather than teaching subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in:

  1. Research
  2. Analysis
  3. Debate
  4. Evidence-based arguments
  5. Collaboration
  6. Writing
  7. Presenting

Only about 2,100 schools worldwide participate in this program, and Medina Christian Academy is very blessed to be one of these schools!

Taught by Becca Lunde—one of our excellent instructors and advisors—this AP Capstone class provides high school students with an even higher quality education, preparing them for college and beyond!
